Aleya Mae - Rainbow|Review
Aleya Mae may be a new, young talent, but she has already played many iconic venues, including The Cavern Club in Liverpool, and Dingwalls in London. Whilst Aleya continues to study for a BA in Song-writing and Music Production, she has released her debut single, Rainbow.
Whilst the Covid-19 pandemic continues to change the world around us, it has shone a light on all those that have kept the world turning; from retail to transport, and of course, the NHS. Aleya’s single celebrates this incredible work with all proceeds going directly to the NHS.
This contemporary song’s ethereal feel is underlined with a beat that makes you move, climaxing in a chorus that only makes you feel liberated and full of joy. The single only begins to showcase Aleya’s vocal capability, which retains the focus on the fact that this is a charity single, and is a celebration, not an audition. Aleya serves the purpose of the song, not herself, which is a brave call to make for a debut single. It is a single that Aleya Mae should be extremely proud of; a charity single, high production (that Aleya co-produced), harmonising vocals explored through clever production and layering, modern-sounding, and an overall jollification.
The video continues to honour the NHS, featuring a montage of all the different faces that comprise of the NHS, whether it be Danielle, a receptionist; Hayley, a Health Care Assistant; or Lucy, a Doctor. Without all of these people, the NHS would cease to be. The video celebrates each and every one of these individuals, reminding everyone how many different roles are involved in keeping this great institution running. It is impossible not to smile and appreciate their work, and how important the NHS is to our country.
